having won First Place in this category during the 2007 competition, David
is invited to serve as the Juror in the Animal/Wildlife category in The
Artist's Magazine 26th Annual Art Competition. His choices
are featured in
the magazine's December 2009 issue. |

David's
article, "Draw Realistic Animals", is published in the
July/August 2009 issue of The
Artist's Magazine as part of their "Drawing Board" column. In
the article, David shares techniques and tips for drawing (and painting)
wildlife, using a red-breasted nuthatch as his subject. The final
product is his "Nuthatch
I Preliminary Sketch".

the AFC's (formerly WNAG's) Flag Expedition Program (www.http://www.artistsforconservation.org/programs/flag-expeditions).
The objective of the program is to make possible the field
study and artistic rendering of endangered species or
habitats deserving of greater public attention.
Although the AFC received several strong proposals, David's
was viewed as the strongest, and the one that most closely
represented the stated objectives of the program.
