January 2015	David's “Larger than Life – Turkey Vulture” received an Honourable Mention in the ‘Animals – Wild, Domestic, on Land, in the Air or Under the Sea’ competition by Art-Competition.net, an international fine art online juried competition.
November 2014	David's work is featured in the November 2014 issue of American Art Collector magazine.
October 2014	David's "Red-Lored Parrot" image receives an award in the International Artist magazine Challenge #83 "Wildlife" competition.
September 2014	David's "Jewels of Madagascar" painting receives another Medal of Excellence during the 2014 "Artists for Conservation" Festival.
August 2014	Harpy Eagle and David's AFC Flag Expedition are featured in National Birds of the World book by Ron Toft. The book was published by Bloomsbury (ISBN 9781408178355).
June 2014	"Pink Sunset (Flamingo)" receives Honourable Mention in the Art Renewal Center (ARC) 2013/2014 International Salon Competition.
May 2014	"Pink Sunset (Flamingo)" is selected as one of the 116 winners of North Light Books’ second annual Best of Acrylic competition AcrylicWorks 2: Radical Breakthroughs (published Feb 2015). Winners were selected from more than 1200 submissions from 30 countries.
June 2013	“Harpy Eagle - Talons” is selected as a finalist in the International Artist magazine Challenge #75 “Wildlife” competition.
March 2013	David receives AFC Conservation Artists of the Month award. The award's intention is to celebrate artists' commitment and contribution to the AFC's mission.
December 2012	"Pelican Up Close" is chosen as a finalist in the International Artist magazine Challenge #72 "Favourite Subjects" competition.
June 2012	Several of David's sketches are featured in Sketchbook Confidential 2, published by North Light Books. The book features the sketches, preliminary drawings, and finished work of 38 professional artists, and gives readers a peak into the artists' minds via their sketchbooks.
October 2011	Two of David's "tried-and-true" tools and tips are included in an article in the November 2011 issue of The Artist's Magazine.
March 2011	David and his work are showcased in a Feature Article in the April 2011 issue in The Artist's Magazine. The multiple-page spread includes several of David's latest pieces - with an emphasis on David's quest for uniqueness and originality in his work - along with a step-by-step demo on acrylics techniques.
November 2010	David's "Madagascar - Creatures of the Night I" is awarded a MEDAL OF EXCELLENCE in the 2010 "The Art of Conservation - An International Exhibit of Nature in Art" show. Furthermore, his "Harpy Eagle (Chick) Montage" piece is also juried into the prestigious exhibition.
September 2010	David and his work are featured in a three-part article in the online version of the Canadian Rockies Lifestyle and Tourism Guide (http://canadianrockies.pipeno.com/).
June 2010	David's article "Scribbling, Scraping & Scratching" is published in the July/August 2010 issue of The Artist's Magazine as part of their "Drawing Board" column. In the article, David demonstrates the use of non-traditional tools and an experimental approach to drawing wildlife, using a capuchin monkey as his subject. The final product is his "Siesta".
December 2009	After having won First Place in this category during the 2007 competition, David is invited to serve as the Juror in the Animal/Wildlife category in The Artist's Magazine 26th Annual Art Competition. His choices are featured in the magazine's December 2009 issue.
June 2009	David's article, "Draw Realistic Animals", is published in the July/August 2009 issue of The Artist's Magazine as part of their "Drawing Board" column. In the article, David shares techniques and tips for drawing (and painting) wildlife, using a red-breasted nuthatch as his subject. The final product is his "Nuthatch I Preliminary Sketch". David also prepared a more detailed demonstration of the process he used to draw the bird's eye, available online at www.artistsnetwork.com/article/demo-bird-eye.
November 2008	Three of David's pieces are selected as finalists in the Animal/Wildlife category of The Artist's Magazine 25th Annual Art Competition: "Harpy Eagle - Talons", "Harpy Eagle - Portraits", and "Larger than Life - Turkey Vulture". The competition winner has attended one of David's workshops, and is kind enough to mention that fact in the article that accompanies her well-deserving winning piece.
October 2008	The Artists for Conservation Foundation releases a Collector's Edition of David's Flag Expedition Journal.
November 2007	David's "Harpy Eagle Montage" is awarded FIRST PLACE in the Animal Art category during The Artist's Magazine 24th Annual Art Competition. Furthermore, his "Watchful Gaze - Common Marmoset" is also selected as a finalist. This is an amazing accomplishment and David is honoured to have been included among "The Year's Best Art".
May 2007	David is invited by Bird Studies Canada to be the Guest Artist for the 2007 Baillie Birdathon. Participants’ t-shirts prominently display his “Osprey Juvenile Preliminary Sketch.”
December 2006	Three of David's images are chosen from close to 700 entries for inclusion in the 2007 Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) National Art Print Portfolio. The images have been combined into one print, "Songbird Trio".
November 2006	Two of David's pieces receive special recognition in the Artist's Magazine 23rd Annual Art Competition. His "Pelican Up Close" is awarded Honorable Mention in the Animal Art category, while "Wren on Thistle" is also selected as a finalist. This is truly an accomplishment to be proud of, as the magazine received almost 1,400 entries in this category alone.
November 2006	David is invited to present at the Cornell University's Lab of Ornithology "Monday Night Seminar" series (to view streaming video of the presentation, visit www.birds.cornell.edu/LabPrograms/Education/MNseminars_Past.html).
June 2006	Three of David's pieces are accepted at the 2006 Arts for the Parks "Mini 100 Contest Show & Sale".
June 2006	David is honoured to receive a special invitation to participate in the Artists for the New Century exhibition at the Bennington Center for the Arts in Vermont. David was recommended by the editors of Wildlife Art magazine for this exhibition, which would feature "an important group of artists whose representational work has begun to appear in the last ten years, and who invariably produce excellent work, technically and artistically."
January 2006	Conservation issue of Wildlife Art magazine (Jan/Feb 2006) features David's work and his activities in support of the environment, including details about the first AFC Flag Expedition.
December 2005	David's "Lemur Miniature" piece is chosen by artist-juror Susan Bourdet as the First Place winner in the Creative Catalyst Productions online Fall Art Show. The theme of this show was animals, both wild and domestic.
August 2005	David receives first fellowship grant under the AFC's (formerly WNAG's) Flag Expedition Program (www.http://www.artistsforconservation.org/programs/flag-expeditions). The objective of the program is to make possible the field study and artistic rendering of endangered species or habitats deserving of greater public attention. Although the AFC received several strong proposals, David's was viewed as the strongest, and the one that most closely represented the stated objectives of the program. David's Expedition to be the first of the groundbreaking program.
November 2004	David's "Spring Arrival - Cardinal" is selected Best of Show at the Audubon Society of Portland's "Nature & Wildlife Art Competition & Exhibition". The Competition was part of the Society's Wild Arts Festival, which celebrated its 25th anniversary during Thanksgiving weekend.
August 2004	David is the featured artist at the Buckhorn Wildlife Art Festival (Buckhorn, ON). His "Mute Swan" image is prominently displayed in the show's program, posters, t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc.
July 2004	David's "Great Egret" is selected as a finalist in the Animal Art category of the 21st Annual Artist's Magazine Art Competition. With over 13,000 entries in this year's competition, David is honoured to once again be among the top 50 in this category.
April 2004	David's work is featured in the Spring 2004 issue of American Falconry magazine.
April 2004	David, with his "Rocky Mountain Eye II" image, is selected by the Alberta Ducks Unlimited Provincial Council as the 2005 Alberta Artist of the Year.
September 2003	David's "Racoons (Young) Diptych" is selected for inclusion in the 2004 Ducks Unlimited Canada National Art Print Portfolio.
July 2003	David's "In the Heat of Winter (Scrub Jay)" (see picture under the July 2002 entry) is selected as a finalist in the Animal Art category of the 20th Annual Artist's Magazine's Art Competition. With over 13,000 entries in this year's competition, David is honoured to be among the top 50 in this category.
October 2002	For the fourth year in a row, David receives two "Collector's Choice" awards during the ARTessential show (Calgary, AB). This time he received the Best of Show Acrylic Painting award for his "Scarlet over Green" piece, and the Best of Show Mixed Media award for "Bald Eagle Diptych."
July 2002	David's "In the Heat of Winter (Scrub Jay)" is one of the winners in the 2002 Arts for the Parks "Mini 50" competition.
March 2002	David's "Rocky Mountain Eye" is selected by the Alberta Ducks Unlimited Provincial Council as the 2003 Alberta Sponsor Print of the Year.
March 2002	In his first year at the NatureWorks Wildlife Art Show & Sale in Tulsa, Oklahoma, David receives an Excellence Award for his painting "Full."
March 2002	Wildlife Art magazine features David in an article on "Global Positioning." (Wildlife Art, March/April 2002 issue)
October 2001	David is elected to membership in the prestigious Society of Animal Artists.
October 2001	For the third year in a row, David receives two "Collector's Choice" awards during the ARTessential show (Calgary, AB). This time he received the "Best of Show - Acrylic Painting" award for his "Algonquin Reflection" piece, and the "Best of Show - New Reproduction" award for his new giclée "A Little off the Top."
September 2001	David's "Brazilian Blue & Gold" piece is selected for inclusion in the prestigious Birds in Art exhibition at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum (Wausau, WI). The piece is subsequently included in the Birds in Art national tour.
October 2000	For the second year in a row, David receives a "Collector's Choice - Best of Show Miniature Painting" award during the ARTessential show (Calgary, AB). This time the award went to his "Yawning Lioness" piece.
June 2000	U.S. Art magazine includes David's "Ground Squirrel Study" in their article "Animal Art: A to Z." David's ground squirrels proudly posed to illustrate the letter "G." (U.S. Art, June 2000 issue)
January 2000	Wildlife Art magazine includes David in select group of "Artists to Watch in the New Millennium" (Wildlife Art, Jan/Feb 2000 issue)
October 1999	David receives two "Collector's Choice - Best of Show" awards at the ARTessential show (Calgary, AB). "Macaw Study" received the "Best of Show Miniature Painting" award, while "Lady in Waiting" received the "Best of Show New Reproduction" award.
August 1999	In his second year at the Buckhorn Wildlife Art Festival (Buckhorn, ON), David is selected as the featured artist. His piece, "Early Arrival - Cardinal," is used in the show's official poster and program cover.
November 1998	Full-page feature on David and his work appears in Arts Section of the Calgary Sun (Calgary, AB).
September 1998	In his first year at the Pacific Rim Wildlife Art Exposition, David wins 2nd place in the badge remarque competition.
