January 2015 David's “Larger than Life – Turkey Vulture” received an Honourable Mention in the ‘Animals – Wild, Domestic, on Land, in the Air or Under the Sea’ competition by Art-Competition.net, an international fine art online juried competition.
November 2014 David's work is featured in the November 2014 issue of American Art Collector magazine.

August 2014 Harpy Eagle and David's AFC Flag Expedition are featured in National Birds of the World book by Ron Toft.  The book was published by Bloomsbury (ISBN 9781408178355).

June 2013 Harpy Eagle - Talons“Harpy Eagle - Talons” is selected as a finalist in the International Artist magazine Challenge #75 “Wildlife” competition.
March 2013 David receives AFC Conservation Artists of the Month award.  The award's intention is to celebrate artists' commitment and contribution to the AFC's mission.
December 2012 Pelican Up Close"Pelican Up Close" is chosen as a finalist in the International Artist magazine Challenge #72 "Favourite Subjects" competition.
June 2012 Sketchbook Confidential 2Several of David's sketches are featured in Sketchbook Confidential 2, published by North Light Books.  The book features the sketches, preliminary drawings, and finished work of 38 professional artists, and gives readers a peak into the artists'  minds via their sketchbooks.
October 2011 Two of David's "tried-and-true" tools and tips are included in an article in the November 2011 issue of The Artist's Magazine.
March 2011 The Artist's MagazineDavid and his work are showcased in a Feature Article in the April 2011 issue in The Artist's Magazine.  The multiple-page spread includes several of David's latest pieces - with an emphasis on David's quest for uniqueness and originality in his work - along with a step-by-step demo on acrylics techniques.

December 2009 After having won First Place in this category during the 2007 competition, David is invited to serve as the Juror in the Animal/Wildlife category in The Artist's Magazine 26th Annual Art Competition.  His choices are featured in the magazine's December 2009 issue.

October 2008 The Artists for Conservation Foundation releases a Collector's Edition of David's Flag Expedition Journal.

May 2007 Osprey Juvenile Preliminary SketchDavid is invited by Bird Studies Canada to be the Guest Artist for the 2007 Baillie Birdathon.

 

December 2006 Songbird TrioThree of David's images are chosen from close to 700 entries for inclusion in the 2007 Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) National Art Print Portfolio.

 

November 2006 Pelican Up CloseTwo of David's pieces receive special recognition in the Artist's Magazine 23rd Annual Art Competition.

 

 

This is truly an accomplishment to be proud of, as the magazine received almost 1,400 entries in this category alone.

June 2006 Three of David's pieces are accepted at the 2006 Arts for the Parks "Mini 100 Contest Show & Sale".
June 2006 David is honoured to receive a special invitation to participate in the Artists for the New Century exhibition at the Bennington Center for the Arts in Vermont.  David was recommended by the editors of Wildlife Art magazine for this exhibition, which would feature "an important group of artists whose representational work has begun to appear in the last ten years, and who invariably produce excellent work, technically and artistically."
January 2006 Conservation issue of Wildlife Art magazine (Jan/Feb 2006) features David's work and his activities in support of the environment, including details about the first AFC Flag Expedition.

The Competition was part of the Society's Wild Arts Festival, which celebrated its 25th anniversary during Thanksgiving weekend.

August 2004 Mute SwanDavid is the featured artist at the Buckhorn Wildlife Art Festival (Buckhorn, ON).

With over 13,000 entries in this year's competition, David is honoured to once again be among the top 50 in this category.

April 2004 David's work is featured in the Spring 2004 issue of American Falconry magazine.

October 2002 Scarlet over GreenFor the fourth year in a row, David receives two "Collector's Choice" awards during the ARTessential show (Calgary, AB).

 

This time he received the Best of Show Acrylic Painting award for his "Scarlet over Green" piece, and the Best of Show Mixed Media award for "Bald Eagle Diptych."

October 2001 David is elected to membership in the prestigious Society of Animal Artists.
October 2001 A Little off the TopFor the third year in a row, David receives two "Collector's Choice" awards during the ARTessential show (Calgary, AB).

October 2000 Yawning LionessFor the second year in a row, David receives a "Collector's Choice - Best of Show Miniature Painting" award during the ARTessential show (Calgary, AB).  This time the award went to his "Yawning Lioness" piece.

January 2000 Wildlife Art magazine includes David in select group of "Artists to Watch in the New Millennium" (Wildlife Art, Jan/Feb 2000 issue)
October 1999 Macaw StudyDavid receives two "Collector's Choice - Best of Show" awards at the ARTessential show (Calgary, AB).

 

August 1999 Early Arrival - CardinalIn his second year at the Buckhorn Wildlife Art Festival (Buckhorn, ON), David is selected as the featured artist.

 

November 1998 Full-page feature on David and his work appears in Arts Section of the Calgary Sun (Calgary, AB).
September 1998 In his first year at the Pacific Rim Wildlife Art Exposition, David wins 2nd place in the badge remarque competition.
