January 2011: Virtual Science Art Exhibition "Bringing Symposia to Life"
David's "Along the Waterfront" and "Harpy Eagle (Chick) Montage" (depicted here) will be part of Bringing Symposia to Life, an independent virtual Science Art exhibition that is linked to symposia presented at the 2011 Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The meeting will be held in Washington, DC beginning February 17, 2011.
The online exhibit is being produced by Science Art-Nature and will go live on February 13, 2011 at www.stanford.edu/group/stanfordbirds/SAN/Exhibit/AAAS-DC.html.
Each work corresponds with a symposium topic and is accompanied by a caption providing viewers with a science lens that will help them understand how the image coordinates with the topic. This virtual exhibit will serve as an example of how Science art can expand the interest in and understanding of science discussed at science meetings and conferences.
Science Art-Nature is a non-profit, whose mission is to raise the prominence of Science art and the benefits of combining the accuracy of science with the evocative power of art, as well as to advocate the use of Science Art to inform viewers about nature and encourage the sustainable use of resources.
