November 2010: Medal of Excellence in "The Art of Conservation" Exhibit
David's "Madagascar - Creatures of the Night I" was awarded a MEDAL OF EXCELLENCE in the 2010 "The Art of Conservation - An International Exhibit of Nature in Art" show. Furthermore, his "Harpy Eagle (Chick) Montage" piece was also juried into this prestigious exhibition.
This year's inaugural Virtual Exhibit promises to break new ground, providing global access to some of the best works of nature-related art. A percentage of the proceeds from artwork sales will be donated to support wildlife and habitat conservation programs. If you haven't already done so, check out the virtual exhibit at www.artistsforconservation.org.
This award-winning piece is the first in what David's hopes will become a series of paintings depicting his observations during a number of night walks through some of Madagascar National Parks. Frogs are the only amphibians found in Madagascar, and 99% of its frog species are believed to be endemic. Where biodiversity is concerned, Madagascar remains one of the most critically threatened areas of the world, with only about 8% of its original forest cover still intact. |
